Waterpraxis

Eutrofiering forårsaget af næringsstoffer er et af de største miljøproblemer i Østersøen. Praktiske tiltag til at afhjælpe problemet bliver beskrevet i vandplaner, som produceres under implementeringen af EU´s Vandrammedirektiv. Men det er ikke uden forhindringer at gennemføre vandplaner på et overordnet niveau der inkluderer metoder til kontrol af vandforurening og ændringer i arealanvendelse, så en række barrierer for denne implementering må forventes.

For eksempel dækker vandplaner et stort geografisk område. Det er derfor svært at anvende principperne for offentlig høring i planlægningsprocessen, og at opnå bred accept på det lokale niveau af de tiltag der skal realiseres.

11 - 12 January 2012, Vilnius, Lithuania

The final seminar of Waterpraxis took place at the Amberton Hotel in Vilnius (Lithuania) on 11-12 January 2012. About 50 participants discussed about the experiences and results gathered in the 7 Baltic Sea partner countries within the project life time.

The Waterpraxis project is already in its last months. When the project started, the first River Basin Management Plans (RBMP) were under preparation. Implementation of these plans required by the EU Water Framework Directive is now underway in all Baltic countries.

20 - 21 October 2011, Warsaw, Poland

The project partners of Waterpraxis met for their last management group meeting in Warsaw to discuss the last upcoming outputs of the project as well as the final seminar, which will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania, in January 2012. After active discussions during the meeting, the partners are now back home and keep working hard to finalise the results of the project.

The team of TU Lodz also invited Mr Janusz Ciesielski, head of Mniszkow commune, to take part in the meeting. Mr. Cielsielski is actively involved in the Polish project activities and thanked the project for its work.

20 - 24 September 2011, Hamburg, Germany

The Research- and Transfer Centre “Applications of Life Sciences” of the HAW Hamburg organized the summer course on Sustainability, River Basin Management and Climate Change in the Baltic Sea Region, which took place from 20th to 24th September in Hamburg. The international course offered the opportunity to inform about up-to-date topics in the area of sustainable development, climate change and River Basin Management.

30 - 31 May 2011, Lulea, Sweden

The partners of the WATERPRAXIS project met in Lulea, Sweden, for the 5th management group meeting to agree on the workplan for the last period of the project. In the evening the project partners visited a hydro power plant with several interesting measures to secure fish migration. The partners also had the chance to see the really beautiful waterfall “Storforsen”.

05 May 2011 in Hamburg, Germany

The conference was organized by the NABU (Naturschutzbund Deutschland e.V.) and supported by the WATERPRAXIS project. About 100 participants were informed about the implementation of the Water Framework Directive in the district of the river Alster, about the ecology, fauna and flora as well as ways how the open public can participate in renaturation activities.
