Waterpraxis Training Course: How to use Environmental Economic Results in Water Resource Planning

13 - 14 January 2010, Kaunas, Lithuania

waterpraxis training courseThe course on utilizing economic analyses in water resource planning in Kaunas, Lithuania, brought together an international group of 33 participants. The course was organized by Kaunas University of Technology, Danish National Environmental Research Institute (NERI) and Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE).

waterpraxis training courseDuring the two-day training, the group consisting of e.g. researchers and river basin authorities with various backgrounds familiarized themselves with fundamentals of environmental economics and requirements set by the Water Framework Directive.

They also learned the principles of Cost-Effectiveness and Cost Benefit Analyses, served with examples from Denmark, Finland and Lithuania. Besides the lectures, the participants used the chance to exchange views on river basin planning practices across Europe and had a taste of Lithuanian cuisine, culture and history.
